ABOUT

Australian-born Steven Baker is a composer, arranger, orchestrator and record producer based in London. He has collaborated on albums and shows with artists including Katherine Jenkins, Joe McElderry, Alfie Boe, Russell Watson, Noah Stewart, Laura Wright, Paul Potts, Hayley Westenra, Rolando Villazón, Lesley Garrett, The Priests, Gary Barlow, Only Men Aloud!, Friar Alessandro and Toni Braxton. Several of these albums have reached numbers 1 and 2 in the UK Main and Classical Charts and were highly ranked in charts around the world, as well as achieving gold and platinum sales rankings.


Steven works for several record labels, including Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, Warner and Sony. He has also contributed to many albums of Grammy-winning producer, Simon Franglen. His tracks have been performed live in amazing venues and on television all around the world.  

Steven also composes for films, theatre and video games. As well as working regularly as Simon Franglen's lead orchestrator, he has orchestrated for the late Oscar-winning composer, James Horner, and worked with the legendary John Barry. As an accomplished pianist and conductor, Steven has been the musical director of the internationally acclaimed group, The Ten Tenors, for many years. He has a B.Mus. in composition (Hon. Class I and university medal) from the University of Queensland, Australia and a PhD in composition from the University of York, UK. He has also written pieces for music education books.
